Is Amari Cooper playing Monday night? Fantasy injury update for Browns-Steelers Week 2 Monday Night Football.

Few things are worse for fantasy football owners than "questionable" players before Monday Night Football. With two MNF games in Week 2, the odds have increased that at least one of your start 'em, sit 'em decisions will be held hostage by a key injury, and Amari Cooper certainly made sure that happened. Getting the latest news on Cooper will be crucial as you look to either continue your early season winning streak or avoid an 0-2 start.

We'll continue to update this article with news on Cooper until the official active/inactive report comes out on Monday around 6:45 p.m. E.T.

Is Amari Cooper playing Monday night in Week 2?

UPDATE: ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday morning that Cooper is unlikely to play Monday night against Pittsburgh. Based on early reports, fantasy owners shouldn't wait until Monday night to replace Cooper.

UPDATE 2: Cooper is officially ACTIVE. It's unclear if he'll be around or primarily used as a decoy, but if you've been waiting for Cooper despite the negative news on Sunday, he'll be there.

Cooper (groin) missed practice earlier in the week, but it was reportedly unrelated to the injury. However, after making it to a full session on Friday, Cooper was limited on Saturday and eventually was listed as "questionable" before Monday night's game in Pittsburgh. It's unclear how serious his injury is, but any downgrade at the end of the week is a worrying sign.

Right now, we'd guess Cooper will be fine, but his fantasy owners would prefer to pick up the pivot from Monday's games just to be safe. The easiest and safest option is Donovan Peoples-Jones, who should see a nice uptick in targets if Cooper is out. You can also grab Allen Robinson II, who is also in line for multiple targets with Diontae Johnson (hamstring) sidelined. Other legal options include New Orleans' Rashid Shaheed and Carolina's DJ Chark (hamstring) if active.

In the end, we think it's worth waiting on Cooper, as Pittsburgh struggled last week with the combination of Brandon Aiyuk and San Francisco's Deeb Samuel. Even at less than 100 percent, the Cooper has a higher ceiling than most of your bench options. His seven targets last week were tied for a team-high, and when these teams met in prime time in Week 3 last season, he lit up Pittsburgh for seven catches, 101 yards and a TD.
